Approaching EOM: Region of Waterloo’s Community Housing Succession Strategy

The expiry of mortgages and potential move to service agreements signals a pivotal change in Ontario’s affordable housing sector. This shift will require housing providers and service managers to work collaboratively to proactively navigate this change.

The Region of Waterloo decided to approach these anticipated changes through the creation of its own Community Housing Succession Strategy. In partnership with HSC Business Solutions, the Region established the foundational elements of their strategy and piloted a housing provider engagement process.

This SHARE event will:

• Review the background and key findings of this pilot engagement process.
• Discuss key elements used to support Boards as they work towards shaping their organization’s future.
• Share lessons learned and next steps.

Participants will gain an understanding of how using a third party to engage providers supported Board’s in moving through their own process, and how the Region of Waterloo will use these findings to support both their providers and their staff in managing change.
